7.00 PM Guided Walk

North Harbour and Dún an Óir Castle (Approx 1 hour historical guided walk giving history of Harbour area and Dún an Oir Castle, including 12th Century Church, graveyard, Castle)Cost €5

8.30 PM Recommended Evening meal

‘Try Thai’ in Cottors Bar with speakers/talkers present; Damien Enright and Chuck Kruger. Cost of meal €25 per person Places limited to 20 but food is available in other venues also.

10.00 PM Evenings Entertainment

Saturday 1st May

10.30 AM  Walk to Loch Ioral and back to North Harbour

With Damien Enright, author of Walks of Seven West Cork Islands (Approx 2 hour walk past scene of discovery of The famous Timoleague Chalice, kept safe of the Island for 200 years after the Cromwellian wars, to the Lake with eagle eyed naturalist and raconteur Damien Enright ) €5

1.00 PM Launch of first Looped walk on Island

Followed by guided walk along looped walk by Southern Cliffs, Mass Track & Goat Farm by Séamus Ó Drisceoil – Introduced by Damien Enright. (Approx 4 hour walk to South Harbour, along southern cliffs, see and talk about the old lighthouse and Napoleonic Signal Tower, take a meandering trail back through the Islands tree plantation and visit the Goat Farm, hear tales of the Island Signal station, Coastguard, lighthouse, Napoleonic defenses, famous Nestorian wreck, Cape Clear Stone and archaeological conundrum, Trees, Calf Islands and more) €5 - Starting at Tourist Office

7.00 PM Talk by Micheál Ó Céadagáin in Árd na Gaoithe , Introduced by Damien Enright

Introduced by Micheál Ó Céadagáin ( Enjoy Micheáls unique take on the the Islands history in a domestic setting 1 hour approx ). €5

7.00 PM Singing workshop with Ed Harper & John Hegarty in Club Cléire

Ed Harper regularly features in West Corks singing sessions and will share his unique voice and extensive repertoire – 1.5 hours approx

8.30 PM Recommended evening meal – buffet in An Siopa Beag

Cost €25 p.p. Menu to be published in advance. Hosted by Ed Harper. Please book in tourist office - limited places

10.00 PM Traditional Music Session with local musicians

Music session with local musicians, with a welcome for all visiting musicians and singers to join in, no charge

Sunday 2nd May

11.00 AM 11.00 am – Bird watching walk with Steve Wing of Birdwatch Ireland

Steve is our bird warden and will guide walkers through the Islands most significant bird watching area. Cost €5. Starting from Tourist Office.

11.00 AM 11.00 am – Morning milking at the goat farm –Ed Harper

Popular with families with children, Ed will explain all as he milks, 1 hour approx €5 - Check location of goatfarm. Limited to 10 by additional sessions can be arranged if demanded.

1.00 PM Leisurely Walk to a refurbished Island home with Chuck Kruger and Damien Enright, for a light buffet and poetry reading by Damien introduced by Chuck.

James and Julie have spared no expense, imagination or creative genius in restoring their traditional island farmhouse, resplendent with antiques and drapes, where Jane Austin meets the Lord of the Rings, a true setting for poetry or plays, approx 3 hours to include buffet. Buffet to include a light lunch and a glass of wine. Cost €15.

2.00 PM 2.00 pm – Option of bus tour of Island

The bus will be available for tours, approx 45 mins

2.00 PM Whale watching

Join Nic Slocum aboard the whale watching boat Voyager for a round the Island tour seeking out our local wildlife, Seals, Porpoises and perhaps an early Minke Whale venturing inshore to feed. Look out for nesting Fulmars off the northern tip of Cape Clear as well as the stunning cliffs of eastern cape with stunning views of the famous Fastnet Rock and Lighthouse. Weather dependent, Special reduced cost €15

7.00 PM 7.00 pm – Traditional/Sean nós singing in a Yurt with Máirtín Ó Méaóid hosted by Niamh Ni Drisceoil

Cleirehaven have brought a cosy and colourful new option to Cape with their popular Yurts and no better place for a cosy sit down and some traditional singing, approx 1.5 hours 20 person limit

8.30 PM Recommended Meal – An Siopa Beag or Cottors

As the fancy takes you, no specific meal is recommended.

10.00 PM Music with ‘Free Beer’

Free Beer are very popular on the island and both interact and extemporise to sometimes hilarious effect, so we thought you would like them, no charge

Monday 3rd May Concluding Event

11.00 AM Last walk of weekend – All walker and all talkers – Island Ring to Island Heritage Center

A leisurely walk to visit the island well appointed heritage center with guides who can interpret the many artifacts and displays, and relate these to the previous walks undertaken during the weekend. Cost €5. Strarting at Tourist Office.
